Currently our associates can choose among the MEGA-SUPPORT, the VIRTUAL, or the ENTREPRENEURIAL plans; the commission split for these plans ranges from 50% to 90% for the agent. The main difference among these plans is the level of advertising support agents receive from the company. Significantly, the level of tangible services and support our associates receive, aside from advertising services, is exactly the same regardless of the plan/commission split level associates choose to work with. A new philosophy

Real estate salespeople as independent contractors whose living depends on earning uncertain commissions are in fact risk takers like any other entrepreneur or investor type. Like any entrepreneur or investor, each real estate salesperson has a different degree of risk aversion. Some are willing to gamble only their time towards earning a commission while others are willing to also gamble some of their money, usually in the form of extra advertising beyond what their companies normally provide; naturally, those who are willing to assume greater risks are also expecting higher returns on their investments.

The proliferation of online technologies and, especially, the spread of social media over the past few years has helped real estate agents better manage and reduce their risk and, concurrently, made them less dependent on certain services traditionally provided by their firms, especially on the advertising and marketing end of their activities. For example, if an agent controls a desirable listing -- by having the exclusive-- whether he or she delivers on that listing now depends less on the name recognition of his or her firm or whether his or her firm advertises in many different print publications and more on the agent’s ability to promote that property through online media and on social networks like facebook, twitter, etc, very often at low or no monetary cost at all.

Yet, at the same time, these same technologies lead to economies of scale and greater consolidation in the real estate industry through the creation, in the process, of winners and losers, smaller and bigger firms. For example, fifteen or even ten years ago most companies and agents could get by using a very basic or no electronic database system at all but this is no longer possible. A sophisticated custom-made back-end database system or a sharp-looking elaborate front-end website system could double or triple an agent's productivity but these types of systems are very costly to build. They are cost-prohibitive to individual agents or even smaller companies.
