Oft termed the “New Soho,” Chelsea is located west of 5th
Avenue and runs the stretch between 14th and 34th
Street. The trendy and expensive neighborhood boasts more than 150 art
galleries and Eighth Avenue is decorated by restaurants and small shops
alike. Stylish to the core, young fashionistas, artists and professionals
buzz about this energetic part of town. Chelsea Piers sports complex with
its myriad activities sits on the Hudson River and new developments fuel the
energy that is found here. Still, some of the most beautiful blocks in New
York are found away from the avenues, on the quiet, tree-lined streets of
Chelsea. The neighborhood is comprised predominantly of renovated
brownstones and Loft buildings converted from warehouses. Residents are an
eclectic mix of people, though the hip action of Chelsea culture tends to
attract more young professionals and artists as of late. |
